I'm planning to replace all the brake pipes at the back of the car as they're all rusting and need doing before the MOT. I've purchased some Kunifer and a flaring tool so all I need now is the brake unions.
I read on another thread that the unions I need are M10x1.0, so I've been looking on ebay to buy some (my local motorfactors are a complete rip off so that's why I'm not getting them there)
Can somebody confirm that the unions below will be ok and also do I need fully threaded male unions or ones with a shoulder?

The ones with shoulders are the same as BMW OE ones.
The prices in the above link are about the same as my local motor factor's charges, but they sell them in packs of ten. The ebay ones are packs of 50, which is rather more than you need for one car!
Even if they want 20p each for them, your motor factors still has to be the way to go, especially when postage is taken into account.
Get new U shaped clips for the ends of your flexis from your dealer as well.

34 34 1 163 565, the same as the one shown on the regulator valve (6). Strange they're not shown at the rear.

I'm having doubts now about the pipe flare tool I've ordered. Its the one in the link below - will this do the double flares I believe I need?

Also I was looking at bending tools and I'm tempted to lump this one in with my order - it says though that the minimum size pipes it deals with is 6mm and by my maths 3/16 is approx 5mm, will this be ok, or is it going to kink them?

Kunifer is excellant! Never use anything else. Doesn't work harden and go brittle like copper and doesn't rust like steel.Simon13 wrote:is kunifer anygood?

Perhaps the second mandrel is on the bottom end of the ones you can see.
Best to enquire before purchasing though.
I have a pipe bending tool like the one in the second link, but I don't think I've ever used it on a brake pipe.
3/16" cunnifer is fairly easy to bend by hand and doesn't readily kink.
The only really tight bends are around the tee piece at the back, but if you are making your own lines, you can make them a little longer than standard with less tight bends.
