mine doesnt work, which is nice cos i'm on a limited mile insurance policy lol

but really it would be nice if it did, and the trip counter.

any likely candidates?

all the other dials work fine and all fuses are fine.

has it worked previosly in your ownership? if not somebody could have tried winding the miles back and dislodged something, a mate bought an instrument cluster off ebay and had the same problem, after inspection it was clear the clocks had been tampered with

Must be something to do with climatic conditions, as I've never seen a case of it in this country, but the yank forums are always on about mileometer failure caused by the little plastic gearwheels breaking up.

Yes I've heard of plenty of people with this fault too.. bbroken little plastic gears in the mechanism. Here in Australia you can buy equivalent gears from a local electronics store.
Here's a link to a US site which has some good pics to show you exactly what needs doing

has never worked in my ownership, but that is about a month now.

i do know the previous two owners and will hound them, it was a known issue when i bought it.

Would be a lot easier, and probably cheaper, to obtain either a replacement speedo or complete cluster from a scrapper.

Cluster parts are all interchangeable, except for very early stuff.
