As far as I can tell from an archive search these are the same except for a different sump. Has anybody used an E36 M40 engine in an E30, and if so was it just a matter of swapping for the E30 sump? Thanks

Thanks, I don't know the garage, (sheltered life :P ), did it give any detail? (ie is this a definite?). I've been offered an E36 cheap so was going to buy it for the engine, but its a way from here so I CBA to go and look at it if its not more or less a straight swap.

Cheers
Brian
