hi ppl,
ive just noticed an oil leak under my car and after inspection there are about 4 splits in my steering gaitor.
i obviously need to replace this now and i was wondering what do i need to do to replace this?
and this might be a coincidence but.... i recently topped my power asisted steering bottle up with Halfords ATF oil, i did read in the manual that you are supposed to use manufacturer approved ATF oil. Is this just a coincidence or has the Halfords ATF oil weakend the rubber gaitor?

Hi Lee,
I'm afraid this is more than just replacing the rubber gaiters. You should not have any fluid in these gaiters at all. Your problem is leaky seals inside the rack itself. Your only option is to replace the rack. Try and find a good used one, or get a refurbished one.
Any ATF should be okay, so I doubt the Halfords stuff has caused this.
Ian.
