Right i have the pipe which goes from the rear (near tank) to the carbon filter thingy under the bonnet. and 1 pipe from this out to vent and 1 to the THROTTLE BODY.
Ive removed it all, so should i block the pipe going in(or out) of the throttle body or leave it open

On the throttle body, there is a pipe going to the carbon filter, do i block it up or put a filter on it?

On a non-cat car, the fuel vent pipe has rubber hose on the end that is just left open, I have seen it tucked into the bracket on the side of the passenger side strut tower.
If your car has a catalytic convertor, then you should have a carbon canister. As Chris says, best to replace canister as it is supposed to be part of the system. It was fitted by BMW for a reason.

Do not block it off whatever you do!
You fuel tank will not be able to breath and will apparently suck itself inside out

Indeed, any blockage of the fuel vent pipe is dangerous. The idiot who replaced the vent pipe on my car kinked the flexible section of pipe at the fuel tank end and caused my car to cut out several times in traffic almost causing an accident. Manged to get the car parked and rang the garage, and they asked me to bring it back across town myself instead of coming to me! Eventually got it back to the garage and they diagnosed the f*ckup. Didn't really apologise, which really pissed me off given the severity of the situation. Needless to say, he doesn't get my custom anymore.
I guess on non-cat cars, when the end of the rubber pipe section in the engine bay is tucked downwards into the bracket at the side of the strut tower, it means it isn't exposed for some foreign item to enter it and block the pipe.

Be interesting to measure your fuel tank capacity now!kevin316i wrote:Indeed, any blockage of the fuel vent pipe is dangerous.
