i intend to get a sport but always keeping options open. i saw article on 4pot 16v does this apply to mine?
will a 6 cylinder engine drop straight into my 318i?

answer is yes, but mounts/prop/box/diff are different, plus the 6 cylinder have different suspension parts, and depending on model brakes plus ECU differs etc etc
the 4 pot 16V is the M42 found in the E30 318is and E36 318, yours could also be the M40 (8V head found on facelift 318) or the M10 found on preface lift 318i
to be honest you would be better off looking for a sport rather then converting

As above, but, as I found on mine, you also need all the brackets to hold the AFM/Airbox and radiator header tank, otherwise its easy
Mine is a 318 Touring so the suspension (apart from the springs) were OK
