Depends on whether it has a solid or a dual mass flywheel. An older clutch cover fits a later dual mass flywheel if the dowel locating holes in the pressure plate are enlarged. The consequences of getting this slightly wrong mean an out of balance flywheel and clutch assembly so I wouldn't risk it. A new clutch is hardly megabucks.
They changed to the dual mass flywheel early 1990 midway through G registration. H plate cars will all have the later flywheel/clutch.

Its actually for an E36 compact with the M42 engine
