Unless its a very special car or very cheap there is no point buying an auto and converting it.
The auto's are fine to drive but they do get a bit boring after a while and can be very thirsty!
Engine conversions, Auto to manual conversions, parts, servicing etc etc... For anything e30 call 07718 901737

Personally, I can't stand auto boxes, but it depends on your driving style.
Nothing wrong with an E30 auto box as auto boxes go, especially the switchable version (rotary knob at the front of the handbrake console).
Auto box reduces performance slightly and increases fuel consumption a bit as well, but it's down to personal preference.
Conversion to manual is easy enough, and has been covered on the zone many times.

There are plenty of manual ones out there so wait until one comes along that you like and save yourself the hassle.

i cooked my auto box within weeks of getting my car it had been properly serviced and had done around 200,000kms. to me this seems a poor life span of an auto when compared to borgwarner and others.

I converted it to man within a weekend and the improvement is so great its hard to describe. i think i would have knocked at least a whole second off the quarter mile time. and driveability is beyond comparison.

Real drivers have manuals simple as that anything with an auto is a cruiser. They do have there purposes but they dont belong in e30's.
