hell everyone, i have a 1988 320i, and i thinks its preety much the base model as it has no e/w or power steering (although it does have e/m for some reason as u move those all the time!) the problem is it can be a tank to park some times! can power steering be fitted to it? i know other e30s nust have it. so if it can be fitted is it a BIG job? PLEASE help as its the only part of the car that lets it down!

It can be done and it's not too difficult if your ok with the spanners.
Just make sure u buy a good rack with good track rods on it, plus the PAS pump all the pipes and resovior.

You should try to get the bits from a six cylinder car (320 or 325), as the pump mounting bracket and pipes are different from the four cylinder version.
The extra pulley on the crank just bolts on, so just take this from the donor (and the bolts), not the whole crank pulley assembly.
Check under the rubber boots at the ends of your new rack that there is no sign of ATF steering fluid in there, and don't get one where the original fluid in the resevoir resembles aluminium paint.
