I'd get it in writing from Halfords before I used it. The evidence will be usefull when you sue them for a new diff.

Just go to your local ford dealer and ask for 2ltrs of lsd oil, about £10 a ltr, stuff they use in the cosworth's, its not auto box oil!

I've always used castrol B373, £6 a litre.

Was advised to use this stuff by someone who definitely knows they're stuff when it comes to diffs.

B373 is fine too but has no noise suppression additive with it that is used in lsd's because its designed for off road vehicles (used to sell loads of that to the sunseeker rally team). The e30 lsd holds 1.7ltrs

Agree with Simons choise in Castrol, none of this singing and dancing fully synthetic one'er a gallon stuff was about when these diffs came into practice so why throw your hard earned at unnecessary oils? If you cant bare the £6 a litre, Comma stuff is about £3 per litre!

The LSD oil from the BMW main dealer is called Castrol SAF-XJ and you will need to bring your own container because they buy it in 25L quantities. It's expensive (about ┚¬25 per litre), but alot cheaper than a LSD!

Small casing diffs take 1L, large casing diffs require almost 2L.
