Hi Folks, GREAT site.
I just bought a 1991 e30 318is yesterday (Pictures coming soon) and need to do some minor repairs, one for example is the accel pedal...its sitting in the passenger seat. it looks as though it should be hinged by the plastic to the floor and a clip on the actual steel pedal but not sure, if someone could post pictures to show how it should be that would be brill. Thanks in advance,

Beavis

You're supposed to replace the accelerator pedal with a new one if it's removed for any reason. Just pushes and clips into the metel frame on the floor, and is held onto the linkage by a circlip.
Before you push it back in, decide if you want to remove the carpet for anything, as it has to be removed for this.
In practice, as long as the hinge is OK, and the plastic retaining clips are undamaged, it is OK to reuse it.

Thanks Jesus325 that would be good :)

Oh well looks like its broken, anyone know if you can still buy them? Circlip seems to have disappeared as well? There is also a large bolt behind the pedal sticking up through the floor and am not too sure whats its for, i will post pics asap and maybe someone will be able to recognise it. thanks,

Most parts for E30s are still available - maximum wait of 24 hours usually.
Large bolt is the adjustable stop for the throttle pedal.
Have never priced a new pedal, but I would be suprised if it came to more than a fiver brand new from the dealer.

Ԛ£13-92? Maybe your right, but that seems a lot for a single piece of plastic.

Thanks for all the help folks,

I'll find the number for my closest dealer ( i live in the middle of nowhere) and order one. It has been said that i need to lift the carpet up to put the pedal in, does it just slide in under the holder ?

Don't need to lift the carpet up to fit the pedal - it clips in through the carpet.
You do, however, need to remove the pedal to lift the carpet. So anything you want to do under the carpet (e.g. check for rust), do , before you fit the pedal.
