any1 done the steerin rack upgrade to an e36 one??
if so easy fit? how is it??

i have a power steering rack removed from a 318is E36.
im told its a upgrade for the E30 making it a upgrade do to less turns too full lock.
open too offers.

E36 rack fits straight in the E30 with the addition of a few washers on the mounting bolts, and gives less turns lock to lock.
Needs to be fitted with E30 trackrods, and the pressure hoses need modifying to fit.
Biggest problem is that there is no linkage between the column and rack that will fit. Need to make up a hybrid to fit.

what rack set up gives you the smallest lock 2 lock

Some M3 rack from some particular year, IIRC, but the big jump is E30 to E36. Difference between E36/Z3 variants is relatively small.
