following "toitliketoiger" ( zone member ) advice so far, I have taken the drive shafts off and disconected the speedo sender plug.
It was then I found out the electrical connections are different.
the diff coming off has two pin like connections and the one I am putting on has car audio speaker like connections.
Can I swap the units over?
Pls responed by the morning, I have put aside all of tomorrow to do the job
( Saturday 18-11-06)
Many Thanks!

Diff connectors should be identical! Similar to the other coloured connectors in the engine bay etc.
Take both senders out and compare them is the best I can suggest. The sensor has a slot in it through which the vanes of a steel disc pass.

Got it from scrapy, always worry when I buy from those places.

Pulse generator part number changed in 9/87. May or may not be relevant.

Cheers, most is done.
Just need to reconnect drive shafts tomorrow and while I am under there fit new roll bar drop links.
Fill the diff with oil and then its the big test!
Sure hope its all ok!! Unknown history of diff!
If I had to advise anyone about undertaking this project I would recomend they buy a 19mm rachet spanner!!
Pref piviting head.

Great fun swapping a diff isn't it?
Make sure that the filler plug (upper of the two) comes out before you remove the lower one to drain it. Would be highly annoying if the filler plug refused to come out or the insert got rounded, after the diff had pissed all its oil out!

Diff in, all is good
Thanks for all the advice.
Thanks for all the advice.
Try installing the sender from the old diff into the new diff. If the speedo doesn't work, reinstall the new sender and soldier a new connector to the harness.
I have a similar problem, only my new diff didn't come with a sender and I had to order one from the dealer.
Let us know how it turned out.
Avner.
