Rear Shelf and Rear Windscreen Heating

With the switch on I've got 12V between the terminal and all the elements on the screen have a reasonable resistance it's just the connections that look dirty.

I can't get to them with the rear shelf in the way - how do I get it out? Do I have to unscrew the rear seat backs or can I slot it out somehow?

Take the rear seat out and then the shelf will come forward more than enough for you to get in there..

You will need 10mm rachet or spanner.

I'll have to give that a shot when I get home this weekend although I think that the speakers fitted in the shelf might hinder this a little bit will have to see how they are connected in the boot.

Are the bolts that I need to remove obvious? - just asking because the Haynes manual is useless!

parcel shelf just sits on top of the metal shelf. as soon as the seat back is out of the way u will be able to lift it up but u will need to remove the seatbelt plastic letterbox guide thing and the belts from the sides of the shelf to get it out of your way. the speakers shouldnt cuase u any probs i dont think

somebody on here has mentioned some electrical contact spraythat works really well. i cant rememeber what its called but if u look on forum for cleaning dash connectors / obc connectors you should find it. or somebody might post up here what its called??

Stupid question - where are the bolts for the rear seats - do you get to them from the boot? I've got the long range tank in the boot so I'm not sure if that makes them harder to get to?

dude, remove the rear bum-bench part of the seat
next, look behind the edge of the rear doorcard. you will see a short metal bar which connects to the back-rest frame. these bars/brackets will be screwwed into the body of the car with a 10mmm bolt each side. undo this bolt. remove the doorcards, just to make sure you dont rip them. next, lift the seat UP about 6inches.
next, angle 1 side of the rear bench towards the front of the car so you can get it out the car door.
this should give you perfect access to the rear shelf.

Have a good supply of sweary word ready when you put the backrest back in,it is a very tight fit!!
