check ur lights first, the gaskets perish over time. theres about 6 8mm nuts which u need to undo and the lens just ejects from the rear. also check that when u fill washer bottle it goes into bottle and not down the outside of the pipe and into ur boot area. while ur at it look at the pipework for rear washwipe and make sure it aint fooked

The trim panels behind the rearmost side windows is another favourite - they just pop on, and you can get water ingress thruogh the holes.

I get a strange "Leak" whenever I try and use the rear wash wipe... is yours working fine?
(if the water is collecting in the LH cubby I'd check it out).

i jsut changed my rear light seals (coupe, not touring) as everytime i trained there was a huge puddle of water in the corner of each boot. 8.90 from BMW for two gaskets probably worthwhile maintenance as well

That was just your car crying - I can see why it'd be upset if you'd rather use public transport.

Split washer pipe where it passes through the hinge.

Unheard of! Rear washer will only work when the rear wiper is travelling in one direction

You can also get a leak at the upper corners of the hatch. If you've got an old or poorly fitted gasket, rainwater sliding off the roof of the car can pass between the hatch and the gasket and will eventually pool in your spare tire well or side cubbies.
