Hi Guys,
Just found this forum as im looking for some advice on my e30 316i M40. My brake pedal is sticking down. Sprayed it with wd40 but not success. Do I take the linkage apart and grease it? Or is it possibly a vacuum leak at servo (there is hunting at cold start also which suggest vacuum leak elsewhere)? or faulty diaphragm?
Second Problem... wipers quit the other day. Motor still making noise. Checked Linkage and took linkage off motor, but motor is not turning. IS there a fix inside the motor? If i push down on the spline from the motor it catches and turns a bit. Any ideas?

Thanks Brian

regarding your motor it sounds like the rotor has worn if you take it apart re grease the bearings and put a couple of washers (small and thin) to stop the whole rotor from being able to move back and forth so much (should have some movement tho), an this may fix it judging by what you said. but to be honest motor shouldn't be that dear email some people off ebay who are stripping cars they probably won't want much.

pedal sticking, is it hard to pull back up manually and stiff? i.e. is it the pedal linkage if so yeah just regrease it and check to see if it's not binding anywhere, to be honest tho to diagnose properly i'dd need to see it. good luck

Still having brake problems... I guess it is not that hard to pull back up suggesting it is not the pedal linkage. What else would cause it? A sticky caliper or is it more likely to be master cylinder? Will have to get a look at the weekend to give more info.

Ok got the wiper motor fixed at the weekend. It was the white plastic pinion on the inside which had been shredded a bit by the metal rack that is transfering lateral to circular motion. I took the pinion out and put two washers behind it so that the outer edge of the pinion caught the rack rather than the middle part which was stripped.

The brakes i have not looked at fully yet. I will check the return spring.

Another problem im having which is well documented on here is my blower motor/air con not working. It blows fuses and when i put a new one in only works on speed 4 for 30 secs before blowing the fuse again. i have taken the resistors out of the back of the motor and cleaned them but still no success. Do I need to replace these resistors? The part is expensive here, 30 pounds from BMW so i want to be sure.

Thanks for your help

ANY IDEAS GUYS?

Also was having idling problems... hunting up and down and stalling when cold. Removed ICV and found the vacuum hose was cracked and had been taped up. Now when i put it back the car does not idle at all! Im sourcing the hose now, should that hose have a jubillee clip to attach to the ICV?
Thanks for your help
