front suspension damper insert question

have any of you got an insert kicking around off an e30 and would not mind measurng the length of the piston (the chrome part) at its full extent.

I've got a standard Bilstein insert from a 325i in my hut but I ain't gonna fanny about in the dark to look for it. Will dig it out tomorrow after work and measure it for you.

I have just measured a brand new g max gas strut and the chrome bit was 22 cm

arn't they shorter? are you after standard shock's or do you want the measurment for the performance dammper?
