I'm currently looking for an AFM for my 1990 316i, and have got the part number from the unit on the car at the moment which is faulty.

I presumed that the one currently on the car would be the right one, with part number 0280200205...however, I've just come across this list of part numbers here : http://www.injectioncorrection.co.uk/in ... cturer=BMW

which says the part I've been looking for was used from 1995 on. And there are 2 others listed which were used from 1988-1990. (one of them being 0280200204 which I could have bought for Ԛ£30 second hand the other day but turned down thinking it was wrong! :x )

Does anyone know if it matters? Is the reason for my dodgy idle the wrong AFM being fitted? Or is the 1995 unit compatable with a 1990 car and it's just knackered? Presumably I'd be best off going for the 1988-1990 unit...

I'd have thought you'd be find with any 316i M40 unit. The one I pm'd you about is part number 0280200201, which is on the list you mention above.
