Makes a hell of a racket and getting worse, at 3000rpm to about 4200, metallic sounding noise, if that makes sense  . Tensioner changed about 2 months ago and engine noise was *slightly* less for a while, but now noisier than ever, any ideas? The mech who changed the tensioner said the chain looked in quite good nick and didn't think it needed replacing so any other possibilities?? Engine's done 132k.

Thanks!

probably your chain guides mate, there not easy to inspect just with the cam cover off, you really need to take of your engine front cover and have a closer inspection....

havew you checked the spark plug holder thing on the side of the head? as its above the exh manifold sometimes it gets brittle and breaks, then makes a racket.
