so i swapped the housing of the rear demister switch with the hazard switch (as i read that from previous posts) and added the extra wire that is needed for the illumination when i turn the lights on but it simply won't work  , why?

when i plug the modified demister switch to hazard socket it works
when i plug the modified demister switch to demister socket it works only when i press it and turn on demister but no illumination when lights are on

what is the prob. another wire?, euro model?, different switches PRE and POST? mine is a pre-facelif 87.

help please i want that illumination

The directions above, on thier own, Don't work.

With a little checking with the trusty multimeter. Mine now both iluminate.

You need another wire... as shown below.

only when I press the button... You mean it should light up all the time?!?! I never knew that! Oh well... Why would you want it illuminated all the time?

thats the whole point of the modification. the demist switch is dimly lit just like the hazard switch. then bright when you press the button.

only dimly lit when the lights are on though... like the rest of the dash lighting.

very annoying on a tourer as the rear wiper switch in the next slot does light up! it just looks broken!
