Odd alloy wheels? Now with pics
Moderator: martauto
I have a set of 14" x-spoke alloys, all the centre caps i have seen on other cars are push on or screw on, but mine have a bolt that goes through the cap and into the wheel, the bolt has three holes that are used to tighten them up, are these original?

I'm not a guru on these matters but I've never seen this type before and they don't sound original. Original cross spokes were made by BBS I believe and they have a BMW part number stamped on them close to bolt holes.

OE wheels on a Cavalier SRi I had in the workshop last week had these type of centre caps. Little plastic three pronged key in the tool kit to remove them.dizz wrote:I have a set of 14" x-spoke alloys, all the centre caps i have seen on other cars are push on or screw on, but mine have a bolt that goes through the cap and into the wheel, the bolt has three holes that are used to tighten them up, are these original?
The three pin tool is missing so i use a pair of long nose pliers jammed into two of the holes, bit of a bodge but it works.
I took off one centre caps and stamped inside are the letters 'ACT' and some numbers, so not BMW but maybe Cavalier sri then.
Well the wheels are looking a bit scabby so an upgrade to some bbs 15" and new tyres (as the old ones wont wear out or grip the road) may be my next move,
thanks for your help Brian and monsport42.
