Right, today i took a day off work to drive 30 miles to a bodyshop place where i had booked in to have my arch lips rolled. They took a look and said they couldnt do it 8O as if they rolled the lip, the outer arch would crease and crack, and couldnt cut it as then the arches would come apart and would need welding?
As i said i was going to lower it in the future, they said do that and come back as stiffer suspension may mean it doesnt travel that far anymore and wont rub.

My problem, i cant afford to lower at the moment as i want to do it properly, (bilstein shocks and h&r springs), and this may not even fix the problem, more likely to make it worse in my eyes?!!

Also not sure if my insurance company, crappy admiral, will cover lowering.

Also, how come ive heard of LOADS of other e30 owners having their arch lips rolled? it must be doable!

I cant really leave it like this as its cutting into the tyre on the o/s, but it drives so much nicer on these wheels so i dont wanna put the old ones back on.

Any advice/ experiences welcome, any bodyshop people out there know if the above is a load of bollocks or not?

Exactly what i thought, i cant find anywhere though. This was the only place out about 6 wheel shops/bodyshops in my area that said they had the tool or could do it!

I had mine rolled about 5 months ago....they are full of brown smelly stuff mate.

My insurance company dont give a sh1t that I have 17" rims with 60/60 drop on billies and spax....so long as the mods arent over £2500 they dont care. HIC are my insurers...cheap too

As an aside:

What size wheels and tyres will this arch rolling allow you to fit? I have 35mm H&R sport springs and the Bilstein dampers (the fat, shortened ones) and would like to fit 225/45/17"s rather than the 215/40/17"'s people say are the size to go for..

Is this feasible?

At the moment im on standard ride height with 8.5x16 rear wheels, and 225/40/16 tyres. This just rubs a little, more on the o/s where it is actually damaging the tyre.
Anyone else had their arches done ata bodyshop, i need to find one experienced in e30's!
Cheers Nick, but im looking for somewhere a bit closer at present!.
