ABS / brake upgrade

I have seen a lot of threads asking which brakes and pad combo works best, but there seems to be no definitve answer.
Most of the guys who do a lot of track days are mainly interested in fade etc.

Road cars do not go through the same rigours as a track car and as such do not need black / red or yelow type pads as these do not work well when cold.

I am building an E30 with an M5 and apart from the M3 brake conversion I want to seriously look at a good "ROAD" set up to cope with todays roads and other comparible cars!

ABS was an option on E30 BMW's but mine never had it and not sure if it is easy to retro fit?

I have spoken to a guy who has an M6 Sphere brake system on his but again fitment is unknown!

Does anyone have any experience with E30 brakes that will work extremely well and any ABS conversions?

What size wheels are you running? I might be able to help with a 4-pot / 280mm setup...

I haven't choosen a set of wheels yet. But will probably go for 17's. If I can push the budget might even get 18's.

True,

but it isn't easy squeezing an M5 lump in either, but that has been done, and thanks to Glenn so has the V8 and V12.

Nothing is impossible and as it was standard on some models it should be able to retro fit into any E30, in theory.

If anyone has attempted it or knows any good links, some inof would be good!

Ive fitted ABS to mine, wasnt difficult at all. Quite easy infact, I was changing the suspension front and rear anyway, you will need to fit the brackets for the pump (dealers sell these) drill some holes for the sensor wires to pass through under the rear seat and the rest just plugs in really

I am getting a complete ABS set up and rear axle. I will probably get his front legs as well for the sensors. I have an M5 that I am breakingand I might find the ABS pump bracket will come off that.

Nothing technically difficult in retro fitting ABS, but a job that involves changing all four corners of the car, renewing several of the brakelines, the fitting of the pump itself and fitting the wiring loom and ECU, cannot be described as easy.
