head gasket...

...my '84 318i Manual's head gasket is beginning to die...

i was quoted $700 to fix it, but my dad found some product i hadnt seen before, it seals cracks in gaskets and blocks...

u basically flush the engine from the current coolant/water then fill it with a clean coolant and water, turn the engine on, wait for the thermostat to open then add 250mls of the product...run the engine(or drive it) for half an hour...flush the engine again then fill with clean coolant...

has anyone heard of anything similar?...

well, it seems she is playing games with me...

the tell tale signs of a head gasket have gone... ...(wtf)...

but i used the sealant product anyway...a friends dad who is a mechanic looked at my car and said that perhaps there was moisture trapped in the head causing the "caramel" residue...

im balancing out the idea of selling this car, it has served its purpose (i was taught manual driving on it and its reigistration will expire on 21st June)

update: its not the head gasket...

its a cracked head...only very fine though...im going to be selling to for $500...any1 in sydney want it?

seems are few people are using this kinda"disguise the fault"type stuff ,cant say i would ever use this in mine or advise it to anyone ,you are gonna block galleries and hinder cooling,a lot of rads even block the cores with lime etc(alu).
if you suspect a block /head gasket/head /cooling leak get it diagnosed ,it is a quick check and will give you piece of mind knowing that your engine aint running with bodge in it.

my opinion.
