Hello all,

I got in my 1985 323i this morning after it had been standing in the freezing cold (Kent) for a week, turned the key and she started first time as always, but when i put the heater on, the car filled with fumes??? She's never done this before, any ideas??

could possibly be oil burning off the exhaust manifold???
I managed to spill oil when refilling the engine which ended up on the exhaust manifold and gave similar symptoms when the car warmed up.
Have you changed the oil recenlty or got a rocker cover oil leak near the exhaust manifold?
Does smoke come out of the headlight area when the car is running whilst stationary!?

I'm in Leybourne, sure is fresh outside coming home last night kicked arse( lanes all the way )

what did the fumes smell of, oily, fuel, coolant?

did you use a de icer product at all ?

i'm in canterbury, we've not had much snow but if you drive 1 mile out of town its like bloody russia!!!!

i did put a litre of oil in my car before i left it standing, when i checked it today on the dipstick, i was well above the maximum limit. Could this be the reason????

I've also ordered a k+n type air filter, can i just put this straight in the normal place or will i have to have some kind of cold air feed???

what type of k+n filter was it, was it a panel filter or the 57i induction kit

Sorry mate it wasn't K+N, it was a cone filter that i bought of ebay from TCB imports in the states. It hasn't arrived yet??
