My fuel guage needle sits at one particular spot for too long. When the car goes around a bend the needle will swing wide to a new location. I am dead sure most of the time the needle indication is not accurate, just average with a +/- big margin.
Is this problem of the fuel guage meter or the sensor in the fuel tank?
This problem bothers me a lot, reason towards the low fuel indicator lamp ON, I cant trust the meter to drive the car on reserve. It could be a false reading
Sounds like a new sender unit may be in order. Don't normally fail, except on E36s, but there's always a first time.
Remove rear seat base, unscrew cover on the right hand side, remove plug, and unscrew four small nuts on top of the fuel pump. Lift out the gauge sender (it will piddle petrol everywhere), and stick in a fresh one.
Some tanks have a second sender under the left hand cover.
