Hi folks

just doing some research on hydraulic handbrakes and realise i'll need to keep my mechanical backup/ original. Does anyone have this setup, what did you do i.e have 2x handbrakes with one being hydraulic

Interested to hear whats out there

Not messed with one for years but you are correct, for an MOT you need a 'mechanical means of stopping the car rolling on a hill'. 16% weight IIRC You would need to retain the existing handbrake or get something like those fancy Willwood handbrake calipers.

On an old Escort back in the day I had a long screwdriver that went through the tunnel and the prop UJ. Not sure I would get away with it these days :D

Mind you it also used to lock the footbrake when in use 8O things are a bit more sophisticated now I think (hope).
