325i Sport auto stalling
Moderator: martauto
My 325i sport auto is frequently stalling. This problem started from only being occasional. When stationary, the engine cuts out completely. When driven at any speed above say 10 mph, the engine momentarily cuts out but fires up again within less than a second due to the cars forward motion. It is unlikely to be the fuel pump because I believe it continues to pump fuel as sometimes when this happens on the motorway, unburned fuel pumped for the brief moment the engine is off occasionally gives a pop in the exhaust. Three relays associated with the fuel system have been replaced to no effect. When the engine dies, the rev counter momentarily drops to 0 and then immediately returns to normal. When the car is moving this occurs for a fraction of a second. Could this be an an engine/gearbox ECU issue or otherwise. All ideas /suggestions welcome.

Could be worth checking the inhibitor switch on the gearbox, that is there to prevent the engine starting unless in Park position...
Also, check all engine-to-body earth straps are secure.
