Hi , I'm currently testing my fuel delivery system and at a point of checking the ECU wiring to the blue temperature sensor, I can't find any resistance reading on pin numbers 24 & 45 , my question is if the circuit is intact ( I know plug C191 connections can fail which I'll inspect tomorrow) will the engine start and run if the sensor has failed completely .
The car's running extremely rich and failed the emissions test and providing just 15 mpg ( 2.5 engine), the engine starts but misses when hold the revs at around a 1.000 rpm , this settles down once warmed but when driving there's an overrun from the exhaust which is annoying to say the least ( I'm 67 so no boy racer)

Additional update. I've resolderd the joints at the C191 plug and retested the circuit and found that continuity exists from the ECU plug (pins 24 - 45) through to the Blue temperature sensor , but when I reverse the test I cant get a reading ? Also I've started the engine then removed the electrical connection from the blue plus and the engine stalls so I have to assume that there is continuity on the plug but that's not to say that the thermistor isn't defective. Any advice on why there's no reading when reversing the continuity test would be very much appreciated.
Also I've measured the fuel pump flow rate and it exceeds the values stated in Wiki by supplying more fuel than is quoted and in a quicker time , is the fuel tank pump defective by pumping quicker and more than OEM recommendations .?
