Bmw e39 auto swap to e30

I am still collecting parts my my swap, I planned on keeping the e39 automatic box that is fitted to the m52 engine but after a brief chat with an rac man he pointed out the automatic gearbox uses the abs sensor to change gear if this is true and it looks like it is does this mean I cant get the auto box to work on my e30 with no abs

Your main issue is the physical size of the box, you will need to cut/modify the tunnel to accept it
Without the correct signal from the ABS unit (wheel speed) the gearbox will be stuck in 3rd gear, limp mode. Im sure there will be some sort of emulator you can buy that replictes this signal, but realistically as you have the car it wouldnt be a bad thing to fit the ABS system too

Is fitting the abs hard as I can't find any info on fitting e39 abs to e30, thanking you in advance for your help, I take it Mt e30 gearbox won't fit

From memory of your other posts your donor car has an M52tu engine so would also have the later DSC type ABS which is MK60, if you search MK60 standalone then im sure you will find plenty of info, not difficult, just time consuming, there are wiring diagrams on the net also

Thanks I will get hunting, it might be a case of the selling my doner and starting again which might just end my project

If I do a manual swap
1. Clutch
2.flywheel
3. Gearbox

Does the ecu need changing to run a manual box, will rear diff need changing
Will a lhd peddle box work as the peddles are in the same order?
