I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for protecting the inlet ports on my engine from possible water ingress while it has to sit outside.
I've had to take the manifold off and it needs a good clean which I can't do before I have to leave town for a while so I need to cover the intake ports in some way as I'm worry about condensation/water getting in there with just blue roll in there.
I was thinking about getting some ply and tracing the holes for the bolts on to it and then bolting it on maybe?
I know it's a bit crazy but suggestions welcome!
Best way to protect intake ports whilst engine is sitting in car outside with no manifold?

I wouldn't trust that to last on a greasy engine on it's own I don' t think...I might use it for the backside of the ply though, would behave like a gasket....good shout.

Not so crazy, I did just that on my exhaust ports when in the same situation.TheWolfman wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 11:51 pmI was thinking about getting some ply and tracing the holes for the bolts on to it and then bolting it on maybe?

That's somewhat reassuring!
Plan is gaffa backed ply bolted on in that case.Sounds ok to me...
One of the reasons I also can't put the manifold back on sharpish is that I was half asleep and quickly just gave the manifold port gasket part a quick (v light) sanding and forgot to clog the ports...now I need to flush it like no tommorow to get the sanding particles out.What-a-plum!
