Hi,

Bought a replacement aerial for my 325i but realised the old aerial when I started pulling everything apart that the old aerial is a 2040. So does any one know where I can buy an adaptor to fit a 2040 aerial cable to a 2050 aerial socket.

regards

Not familiar with the 2040, mine had a 6000. What is the difference in the sockets? we are talking the antenna cable not the power cable here?

Is all I am going to do is fit the 2050 plug to the aerial cable I have

Post some photos up it may be as simple as getting a standard plug from an audio place or somewhere like cpc farnell

The 2050 antenna socket is slightly smaller than the socket on the 2040. I'll get photos later today!

Hi,

The bright silver end of the coax cable is this one on the 2050.

And the old one on the 2040 is this one. The picture is not great but it has a slight lip on the end causing the connector not to fit the 2050.

They are similar but the old one is slightly bigger!

That is interesting (and a complete pain) spare parts for the 2040 seem to be NLA in their catalogue last-year.

If you don't want to re-thread a new wire you can always cut the old 2040 connector off and crimp a 2050 one on to the original wire.

Hirschmann in their wisdom do not list a connector separate in their catalogue.I cannot find anyone in the UK supplying them but a few places on the continent seem to have them like here.

I think that is a likely candidate. Maybe worth contacting a few of the places selling the 2050 in the UK

Or you could put a standard din connector on the wire and use an adapter to connect to the aerial

Cant paste the link here as it seems to be too long but go to Amazon and look for

No luck with this. However I bit of extra lubricant to the old 2040 aerial and now it is working again full up and down. However, I would still like to have the correct fittings, if it ever decided to pack up.

item 361589109057 on ebay is the replacement cable, so I have ordered this to have at least when it will be needed!
