Good afternoon all,

Car is e30 s54

HVAC blower motor, coolant temp gauge, fuel indicator, engine electric fan (wired as per oem) do not work.

Blower motor and electric fan turn on when starter motor turns over only, then stop again with engine running.

Have been having some problems also with starter motor where it will click once but not spin the engine over. But if I keep trying eventually it does spin over and start. Only ever does this when the engine is warm.

Unsure if all these things are related?

Thinking something to do with the unloaded relay and more? Would like some help before I go changing/fixing things which may not be the cause.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the low tension wire to the starter could be shorting that would cause both fans to be fed, as you say they stop when you release the key... I have come across similar issues with starters not always engaging and in my experience it was due to the rear electrical unit of the ignition switch just being worn, though if its only when it's warm it could be related to a short... Possibly if the fan is running and drawing current from the starter feed!?

Changed relay k7 but it’s made no difference.

Gauges, blower motor and electric side mirrors only work when cranking the motor over.
They don’t work at any other key position.
Any ideas?

Have ordered new starter motor in case that may be related.
