Good evening . question please
What is the best way/place to take off some auxilliary 12 volt suppy , only when car is running.
my 1st thought was cig lighter but then found out live all the time ( which is good news if you wanna use a trickle charge over the winter.
Suppose i could connect there and put a switch in as thats a convenient point to take it from and look easy to remove ash tray and surround .
thanks Paul

Think I've taken it from the stereo, but then there's not much need for a stereo in my car
What's the purpose? If it's for a dashcam or something, perhaps there's no harm piggybacking off that? As long as you make the wiring neat and obvious for the next poor soul

Examine fuse 16 position in the fusebox. If there is a contact fitted in the socket for the fuses's leg nearest the outside of the box, there will be an ignition switched supply, capable of supplying 15A, available at pin U (top row, third from left, second from right, white/brown wire) available at he accessories socket.
This supply is intended for the rare option of heated seats.
Don't take any significant amount of power from any supply with green as the main wire colour.

It's under/behind the glovebox on RHD cars.
