I enjoy the smooth ride I get from the original suspension of my E30. But it's high as a giraffe pussy and would look so much greater if it'd be lowered a few cm.
My E30 is a daily driver and I prefer bouncy smooth suspension where you can ride pretty hard over most obstacles compared to a low super stiff suspension where you feel every single imperfection in the road in your butt.
So my question is, are there some not too expensive coilovers for E30 that are smooth in the beginning of the compression of the shock, and when it is close to bottoming out it gets stiffer?
Coilovers that are not super stiff?

KW V1/V2/V3 (depending on requirements and budget).
V1 - cheapest, ride height adjustable only.
V2 - Rebound and ride height adjustable.
V3 - Independent rebound and bound adjustable and with ride height adjustment.
Not the cheapest but will lower the car, improve the ride and improve the handling. I have the clubsports on mine from a Z3M on a 5-stud conversion. These have pretty high spring rates for an E30 (680lb front springs!) yet it still manages to ride really well.

Interesting. So is the price on the V3, damn those coils cost about what the entire car is worth, hehe.Motorhole wrote:KW V1/V2/V3 (depending on requirements and budget).

What are you saying here, that the more original the E30 is the more it's worth?ChrisHC wrote:You will find it is worth less once you start molesting it to suit your tastes.E30REDD wrote: Interesting. So is the price on the V3, damn those coils cost about what the entire car is worth, hehe.

My advice would be to go with either a Bilstein B12 kit or H&R sport kit which lowers the car 60/40mm depending on which one you order.
It gives you sporty handling without the super stiff ride you get in coilovers which I wouldn't even consider fitting on a daily lol
