Alternator

Anyone seen this connection on a 1988 325 alternator, I was going to change it but it looks like its hard wired with the cable going off into the loom.

Hi,

That looks like the voltage regulator for the alternator has been messed with. Normally looks like this: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=e30+a ... HtCPYGOL6M:

Where do the wires go to?

Thanks for reply, I have done a lot of research and have come up with nothing like it on an E30. but it looks like the voltage regulator is remote, the cable from the alternator goes to a black box next to the battery which has been moved from the boot to the engine bay. I have owned the car for 17 years so it must have been modified early in it's life for some reason.
