I've bought back a car that I owned a while ago that I fitted a 2.5 16v into which has been stood for some time.
It's a ews, silver labelled ecu and won't fire. It has a wire attached to a thin green wire in the cable tray ( engine bay ) that isn't attached to anything. The end that's loose is close to the ews/ ecu but can not find where it goes. I can't find my original wiring drawings as never thought I'd have one again.
Is there any way of testing that I'm getting power to the ecu ?
Should I have power to one of the three going into the ews ?
Thanks in advance for any input.
Mark.

Loads to do to it yet to get it back nice but it will get there.
It's been off the road for at last 3 years but has been in the dry.

Where is the ews situated? Does it crank? Or nothing when you turn the key?

It turns over on the key but no fuel pump running or spark.
EWS is in the car above the pedals under the original ecu mounting bracket.
This is where the broken wire is. The attached end is on a thin green wire which comes live when the ign is turned on.

There should be a green wire running from pin 4 of an EWS II controller to pin 66 of a M50B25 silver 413 ECU, according to the zone wiki.
There should be a purple/yellow wire to pin 2 of the ring antenna module which may have been replaced with a green ignition live wire in some installations.

It's all wired as the pic on wiki but I have one extra wire from the engine loom.
I think I have a fault with the ews as I have power into it( the little black box where the key halo plugs into ) from the fuse and out of it from the third wire into the ews controller.( silver box. Cigarette packet sized box). I then have power out of it on the thick green wire which goes to the ecu but no spark or power to the fuel pump.

There is a starter motor inhibitor relay in the EWS module, which usually doesn't get connected up when the system is fitted to an E30, but it should still click when the key is inserted and turned.
Can you hear a click from the module?
