Well, I dropped my recently acquired 325 Baur off at my usually excellent garage a while ago to have them work through some mechanics and electrical faults and I picked it up today.

The car has diavia aftermarket air con and the fan wasn't blowing, so they replaced a very burnt resistor behind the dash, and now it blows on all speeds, even 'off' - odd.

At the same time they seem to have stopped the rev counter, mpg gauge, radio, analogue clock working too. I have checked all fuses, and replaced fuse 12 which seems to cover these items, but nothing

Does anyone have any ideas before I give the car back to them and ask them to blindly fix it, any help greatly appreciated

Thanks a lot

Problems with the instruments are often down to failing SI batteries, according to the wiki. Fuse 27 which powers them can also power the sound system, so might be worth investigating, but I am a newbie here, so may be talking rubbish.

Yes, I'd read about the batteries but kind of ruled it out as the radio went out at the same time, I'll try the fuse you mention too, thanks

SI batteries affect the instruments, but only fuse 27 affects the analogue clock. Check the fuse by replacement or swapping with another 7.5 fuse, since a 'soft blown' fuse is not always obvious.

There is a splice of red wires which power the instruments in question inside the wiring loom travelling below the passenger side (UK) seat.

It corrodes badly inside and needs sorting out.

I think it's splice 319 on the factory diagrams

Thank you everyone for your advice.

Fortunately or unfortunately, it all came back on last night!

I will change all of the fuses as advised, but can see an ongoing issue here
