Just got some prices from cotswolds on here, for new OEM screens...
Three options shown to me on realoem are: Clear, Green, or Green with green shade band!!!
First of all, what would've been standard on a 1990 325i touring???
Is there any of the online spec checkers I could put my vin no in and it would tell me what glass was ordered with the car???
Which screen would people here go for??? (My other glass is all smoked/tinted).
Is there big/noticeable difference between clear & green? Then do I get the shade band?
Also - is it worth paying for an OEM screen, or would an aftermarket screen be just a good???
Could get the screenfitter to order one for me (it's just going back together in the bodyshop - currently with no screen!!!), which I'm sure would be cheaper, but I don't want any issues with fit/leaks/wind noise/etc!!!
Any recommendations/advice???
(Don't really want the agg of claiming through insurance for a screen as I presume they will want to use their own fitter/company and would need to see a damaged screen?)
New Windscreen??? Which one??? Recommendations???

Unless ordered otherwise, a '90 touring would have come with a plain green tinted screen.
Top tint band is a matter of personal opinion, and of how high you sit in your car.
My personal opinion of genuine BMW glass is that it is rather soft, and marks up relatively easily, but I know that there are some of you out there that will insist on a little BMW roundel in the corner, whatever the quality and cost.
Not much 'agg' involve with an insurance windscreen claim - just 'phone them up, and let them contact you for a place and time and let them get on with it. Last one I claimed for was on my E39, and the fitter turned up, declined my offer of the use of a workshop, and changed the screen in half an hour. Absolute delight to watch him work - a man that knew exactly what he was doing.

Thanks Brian.
Def not insistent on OEM/BMW genuine parts, (the car isn't standard in any way!!!), but would like whatever the best quality is!!!
I'll be using the insurance for a replacement screen on the missus focus soon, but as mine is in a bodyshop, with no screen in there, I wonder if they'll ask questions!!!
Might be worth a go, if it saves me a decent few quid!!!
Green screen it is - just deciding if I want the top tint or not!!!
