I've had this "problem" since I bought the car, but it never really bothered me up until recently when I renewed all the dodgy bulbs on the rear lights, yet the warning didn't go away.
I occasionally get the brake bulb warning light come up on the roof's check panel (top left warning light), yet both of the brake bulbs always work fine with no probs...
Also cleaned all the contacts on the bulb holders thinking that would solve the issue, but it's still there.
Not that it bothers me too much, although interesting to know why it happens?
Brake Bulb Warning Light

Make sure you have good earth contact, Are the bulbs like for like? and are they nice and bright?
Check panel on dash does come up to check your brake lights work when you start the car but I assume you already know that hence why you mentioned roof panel but not sure why your roof check panel is lighting up.
I get the check panel light up for my sidelights even though they are working and have tried everything but no fix. I Even changed rear control unit and roof check panel for the check system.

Actually, I didn't know about the checking the brake lights thing when you start the car...Now I dobigbird76 wrote:Make sure you have good earth contact, Are the bulbs like for like? and are they nice and bright?

But yeah, as I explained, the check panel lights up for the brake bulbs while driving randomly...
I'll double check whether all the bulbs are the correct spec, but as far as I remember, they are all the same, except the tail light?
So 12v P21W for all, except for 12v R10W for the tails, correct?
Put new bulbs in there today and all seemed fine on the drive home...The warning didn't come up, but let's wait and see.gromgsxr wrote:mine did the same till i did this.

One thing I noticed, some bulbs are 12v P21w, but others are just 12v 21w, without the "P"? Does it make any difference?
Looking at 2 identical bulbs, which both fit and work, but they are different inside? I'm currently using the type on the left...Does it make any difference?

LED bulbs and the check panel don't mix well iirc.steve_k wrote:just swapped to green LED's in my all red rear's & i'm hoping i don't have this problem as i've got my mot coming up soon.
Won't be an MOT issue though.
