So my fuel pump died and I want to put a new one in.

Genuine is heaps of $$$ so not getting one of them.

Am going to get a Walbro, however they have two flow rate options - GSS242 190 LPH or GS342 255 LPH.

Obviously theres no point going to high if the fuel pressure reg can't handle it so will the 190 be good? Seems to be lots of conflicting info online..

My car is basically stock apart from de cated exhaust

I had a lot of fuel pump problems about 4 years ago in my '88 325is.
I ended up getting a new pump off eBay for about $70.
Not had a problem with it in 4 years, and from memory, fitting it was a no-brainer.
I would recommend removing the original 1st and ensuring that the replacement looks the same.
Don't pay over $200 for a "BMW" pump.
Have a look here:

No decision is incorrect when made - but it does become apparent in retrospect...
