M40/M42 question

Looking to get a sump guard for my 318i, found some for sale in the States but the guy only lists one for an M42, are the bottom ends the same as the M40 ( ie will the fittings and clearance be the same as an M42 ??

Both upper and lower sumps are the same, so assuming the engines sit near enough the same height and none of the fixings foul the RH drive steering rack, it should be OK.
M40 never made it to the USA - they had the M42 engined cab. that we never had over here.
