I'm currently in the process of swapping my E30's power steering to an E36 power steering just before I drop the M50B25TU in and I've come across some problems.

I have some hoses that are missing. The reservoir -> pump hose is present on the engine and still attached. However, I don't have the pump -> rack and rack -> reservoir hoses. Loads of searching and getting mainly results for LHD models I found some RHD hoses which would sum up close to €300 for both hoses which is a bit excessive considering you can get LHD aftermarket hoses for less than half of that combined.

I therefore decided to go down a different route. I'm pretty sure someone else has tried this but I've not found anything yet so any technical reply would be very helpful.

What I was thinking of is fabricating the require hose myself. The idea is to use banjo bolts (M16 for the return and M14 for the high pressure) with AN (I'm thinking 6AN) fittings and use some steel braided hose cut in the correct length.

Is there something I should be aware of? I'm under the assumption that theoretically it would work and be more cost effective than buying the standard parts while removing any clearance problems.

My problem is I can't really wait much for shipping (I'm in Malta) and there seems to be a problem with inbound overseas post :(

I should be going around the shop right after work to see if I can get it sorted this way, if I don't, I have a backup plan. Thanks :)

300 euro is more than double the cost of my pipe sets, the problem with hose/braided hose is that they are bulky, so likely to rub somewhere and they also look out of place
