Do m40 injector looms fit m42 engines?
Had a bit of a problem today my 18IS started to lose power when i put my foot down and kept cutting out, just as i reached my grove she packed up completly and would not start again.
When trying to start it i could hear a sparking noise and the smell of petrol which i assume is me flooding my engine so decided to investigate.
I removed my head to get at my injector loom and found thats where the sparking noise originates so im assuming its a faulty loom. Ofcause unless anyone else has any other suggestions for me to look at.
Any help is much appreciated!

You removed the head to get at the injector loom??
Seems unlikely that there are sparking noises originating from this part of the loom, but stranger things have happened.
If there is a problem there, a section of M40 loom could be spliced in to effect a repair.

I saw no otherway of getting to the plugs to take it off ill have to test it moght be shorting out but im not sure nor am i a mechanic lol.
I font really want to splice it id prefer a new one. Also is there anything else ot could be judging from my discription.

Most of us would have undone the eight nuts that hold the top half of the inlet manifold in place, and lifted that off, exposing the injector loom and the ridiculous myriad of (largely unnecessary) pipes that live in there.
Nothing like enough info. to start making a diagnosis yet - the first things to establish is whether the fuel pump runs and there are sparks from the plugs WHEN you crank the engine. You'll need to put the head back on to do this, which is going to cost several pennies in materials and machining alone.

Lmao thats what i meant i took the manifold and throttle body away to get at it. Lol i didnt take my head gasket off lmao
