Does anyone know how this is done? I have an SE-spec car fitted with the 13-button OBC, the "full" one with the additional wiring to the dashboard stalk and ECU, and temperature sensor down in the nose-cone. I'm looking to pluck it asunder as efficiently as possible, and popped on here to see if anyone's done it, and for possible advice.

Is it just the display unit you want out?

Start with the unit. There are 4 small screws on the back holding it in. Pita to get to. I took the head unit out and the heater panel out.
Then follow the wires to the speedo.
Then follow the wires to the black box under the speedo by the ecu.
Then the stalk on the steering colum.
Also the gong is in the under steering wheel panel.
The other wiring goes the passenger side of the car to through the bulkhead and down to the front valance where you will see the temp sensor in the brake air duct.
That's the basics.
Then follow the wires to the speedo.
Then follow the wires to the black box under the speedo by the ecu.

The four small cross head screws are on the sides of the unit, and are in slots, not holes.
If you have reasonably small hands, then it is just possible to access and undo the screws by dropping the front of the glove box, removing the top and right hand access panels inside, and reaching in with a short screwdriver. Remove the two screws nearest the glovebox, and then you only need to slacken the other two to be able to remove the unit.
Any screws you drop are unlikely to be seen again.

I've found the easiest way to remove the display unit is to remove all the switches, knobs & possibly the stereo from the heater control panel. If you look around the 3 heater control slders you'll see they are surrounded by a seperate piece of trim. If you can carefully remove this with a fine blade, you'll find a 4 (?) screws inside.
Removing these should allow you to separate the whole heater trim panel from the rest of the dash, which in turn should give you access to the 4 screws mentioned above that hold the display unit from the inside.
