Have tried to do the recommended mod on wiki to loop the red/black wire today, but my loom only has one red/black wire. The only other red wire has a brown trace on it, so what do i loop? (L reg touring).

The fault by the way is central locking intermittent and now stopped working, locking module makes a slight noise when attempting to lock/unlock from key in any lock or drivers door button.

Module fuse link is ok and no obvious dry joints/water damage.

Don't touch the red/brown - that's the dead lock!
Unless someone has been doing some bodging in your wiring, you will have the two red/blacks.
One should go to the spare socket neat to the locking module, and then loop on the locking module's socket. Do you have it here?

Hi Brian, there is one red/black from the module plug and another two red/black, both going to the same pin on the spare socket. Using my logic(!) i thought joining wires that go to an unconnected plug would achieve nothing, am i wrong?

The red/black that goes to the module plug is the same wire as one of the two that are on the same pin of the 'spare' (interior light delay module) plug. The other red/black on this plug is one that goes to the door plug, and is one of the two you need to cut. The other red/black you need to cut comes along the sill from the back of the car, as part of the smaller loom, goes up and connects to the next pin on the door socket to the first one.
Follow the wire from the 'spare' plug.
The mod. could already have been done of course.

The best place to get at those red/blacks is where they approach the A pillar socket, there should be a loose hank of harness that you can pull out of the recess behind the speaker.

Thanks for all help pinpointing the right wires. Mod now carried out and central locking working perfectly, very pleased!
