Where will your megawatsit get it's crank signal from?

Early M20 use a sensor in the bellhousing, later one's use a sensor that reads a ring mounted on the crank front pulley.

Easiest bet is to convert to the motronic 1.3 set-up for the crank signal I.e crank pulley, alloy bracket and sensor front mounted on the engine. Pull the wiring for the flywheel sensor and set aside. Pulley is avaliable on here for around £20 posted, bracket new from bmw is about £8, sensor can be bought via euro, cant remember the cost but im sure its about £50. The motronic 1.1 flywheel can be used, you're just not using it as engine speed/angle reference any more. Hope this helps.

When you say "it's running 'squirt" - is the car actually running? Or has it with your setup?

It was running beginning of the year person I brought it off had had a turbo conversion done on a early high compression engine which the head gasket went it already had the megasquirt wired in . I brought a low comp later block had it rebuilt and am now in the process of refitting back in the e30. My question is do I need to buy a early flywheel or late ? And what modification I would have to do to get it running again. I'm no expert just looking for advice on what to do . Cheers

Can you use the trigger setup from the engine that was running?

I'm not sure thats what I was trying to find out . Will the older gear box be compatible with the newer block too ?

All the bits are interchangeable . The only combination you can't use is the older management system with a later gearbox, since there's nowhere to fit the two sensors.

Thats what i'm thinking.

No wiring mods should be needed if the engine ran.

Were the g'box sensors connected to the loom? Or, has the HC engine got the 60-2 trigger wheel on the front with a crank angle sensor mounted under the waterpump, the plug for which should be under the inlet manifold? (waterpump will need swapped too, dependant on the coolant system you're using)

Either flywheel may be used if the crank trigger is front mounted, the HC flywheel is needed if the reference is taken from the g'box end.

As stated above, the 'box for the HC engine will be ok with the LC block.

Mark.

You shouldnt need to buy anything else, just use the parts you had on the HC engine. Keeps financial cost down and only costs time/effort. :D

Ok great so using the high comp flywheel, is there any thing else behind the flywheel I'd need ? There's a bracket behind there ? I'm buying this clutch which say its compatible with all 325s http://gripforce.com/f1-racing-stage-3- ... 24td-2-4l/

Ive got something similar from clutch masters. Theres just a ring of bolts mounting the fly to the crank.
