Hi Guys,
I'm -finally- getting round to finishing off the 'snapped cam belt' engine rebuild. Due to jobs and life and stuff I've only managed to get it all back together today, and it wont fire up.

so, before taking it all apart again, can I ask how I check I have the three pin plugs connected to the right three pin sockets ?

the ones going to the airbox and intake are obvious, but the crank sensor and oil pressure (I think) ones appear easy to mix up, and I want to make sure they are right first.

If I strip back a bit of the plastic sleeving, will the wire colours match ?

cheers :)

Wiring diagrams here: http://www.autolib.diakom.ru/CAR/BMW/ will identify the colours of the wires.
Oil pressure switch has a two pin socket, not three, but only one wire, and can't readily be mixed up with anything else.
If this is a M20, then the crank sensor and cylinder ident sensor plugs can be mixed up under the diagnostic socket.

cheers again guys, checked the wires, plugged them in the right way, then a quick spot of valve adjustment and it fired up :) It's taken the best part of a year, but my e30 is back from a snapped cam belt and running again.

It still needs some attention though, but hopefully it'll be back to normal soon enough and i can get driving it again.
