Engine is stripped down, out of the car, everything removed apart from the crank.
How can I undo the 320LB torqued bolt from the front of the crank?
I have wedged a crow bar inbetween two of the crank counter weights, and tried using a pretty long breaker bar on the bolt in the end, but this results in the engine stand bending.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks
George

I have found a video which makes it look easy with two people..... Alas I have no one else to hold the engine stand down (and my rattle gun only makes a lot of noise and does not undo the bolt)

This is possibly the most diffcult bolt to loosen on an E30!
The only way I have managed it was with the engine still in the car, long bar on a lump of 4x2 and flick the ign key...
Not much use to you now.
Do you have a mate with a fork truck,at work, perhaps?
Mount the block on a pallet, thick plywood over the top held down with the f/l whilst you heave on the bolt?
A mate with a compressor may be able to shock the bugger free?

I did mine at the weekend and found it easier to do it with the engine on the deck and a large mate standing on it then get the right angle on the breaker bar so if pushes the engine into the ground. Still had to jump on the breaker bar.
Engine stand will just bend or move in my experience
Good luck

Get a block of wood and wedge it between the block and the no1 rod journal, get a long bar and stick you foot against the block.
