Apologies for one of many extremely nooby questions,
I've brought a e30 325i power steering rack which included the fluid resivrior I want to convert my 318i manual rack.
Can, or is there even such a thing close to a electric power steering pump that will power this and what other bits and bobs will I need.
All the help I can get is appreciated and if anyone knows where to get a pump from that would be great.
Cheers
Really noob question

Nope, you'll be needing a fluid pump and its mount for your engine, plus the right pulley at the front.
Why do you want an electric pump anyway? It drains the engine more than a fluid pump would.

As its a 318i I'm not exactly sure of which pump, belt and pulley I need. And to be honest is it worth me having a engine ran pump if I'm only going to do a conversion in the future??

A conversion to what? Electric car? All the upgrade racks for the E30 (E36/E46/Z3) still use belt-driven pumps, and the upgraded engines (M50/M52) all ran the same pumps too, so I don't know what advantage you think you'll get from an electric pump. It still needs to get its power from the engine, just from the alternator.
As for your car, the year determines what engine you have, and therefore what pump you need:

Thinking m50 b25 conversion
I'd just been told that I would be better off to put a electrical pump in., however he didn't and never has owned a e30.
Okay now to search for a m10 pump. Cheers for the help
